Minneapolis-based trio Spaceport return with their second album, Cut the Lake, a collection of warm, introspective songs exploring small moments of transportation within daily life, all with the band’s unique mix of indie rock, folk, classical, and ambient/electronic sounds. If their debut Window Seat was a sci-fi movie, this record is a fantasy novel. “I wanted the songs to evoke exploration and adventure: deciphering glyphs in a city skyline, or decoding the map etched into a frozen pond,” says multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter Arianna Wegley. Wegley’s lyrics are like the northern cousins Karly Hartzman of Wednesday’s southern storytelling, taking inspiration from a wide range of texts, from Delaney’s Dhalgren to Whitman’s Leaves of Grass. The music, with its mix of guitars, drums, synthesizers, flute, and cello, sits nicely between the baroque bliss of Sufjan Stevens and the dark intimacy of Alex G. Recorded at the legendary Pachyderm Studios in Cannon Falls, Cut the Lake showcases the live chemistry between Wegley, partner Todd Olson (drums/lyrics), and Liam Moore (bass). Nat Harvie, recordist and musician in Minneapolis, Minnesota, mixed the album.

About Cut the Lake:
Spaceport began as a secret creative outlet for multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Arianna Wegley. The personal project grew into a band when longtime friends Todd Olson (drums) and Liam Moore (bass) joined to record their debut album, Window Seat. Blending the energy of indie rock with experimental textures and rich orchestrations, they follow their hearts and create music that’s catchy, playful, and sincere. Since releasing Window Seat in March 2023, their music has been featured on local and national radio, including The Current, Radio K, KFAI, and college stations across the country. Rooted in many corners of their local music community, they’ve become a fixture in the Twin Cities, even opening for Dead Man Winter at the iconic First Avenue Mainroom. Their sophomore album Cut the Lake, recorded at the legendary Pachyderm Studios, will be released on April 3, 2026.
