Carly Bond’s new album under her pseudonym
Meernaa, pairs dusky, dexterous vocals with sensual, technically refined compositions. The artful grooves of the upcoming
So Far So Good carry forward influences such as
Sade, Cate Le Bon, Minnie Riperton, and
Talk Talk. Keeled Scales will release
So Far So Good in October 2023 via Secretly Distribution.
Throughout
So Far So Good’s 11 tracks, Bond smoothly maneuvers her deft vocals among the sleek shapes of chilled funk, inviting R&B, and folk/pop innovations. Timeless with unexpected turns, Bond’s spacious songs flow with the analog certainty of pristine guitar, wizardly synths, and dance-bating bass and percussion.
Meernaa’s previously released singles “Another Dimension” and “On My Line '' introduce a celestial and soulful album. The weather of these songs is varied, the poetry shifting its winds from tender playfulness to desire.
Amelia Maher of
The Line of Best Fit called Bond’s imagination “as intriguing as it is beguiling and mysterious.” Meernaa’s So Far So Good travels perfectly with a glistening night out or a drive to a secret hideaway.
