Blood Wizard is a South London-based band led by songwriter Cai Burns. What began as a solo project has evolved into a close-knit four-piece, blending wiry guitar lines with dry, emotionally direct lyricism and a sound that moves between alternative indie, folk-leaning rock and something darker at the edges.
Following 2024’s Grinning William (Sad Club Records), the band return in 2026 with the five-track EP Lucky Life, released via Sad Club Records. Written largely while living in South London, the record reflects a shift from something more solitary into a collaborative band process, with songs developing in living rooms and kitchens rather than traditional rehearsals.
Darker and more restrained than earlier releases, Lucky Life gives the songs space to breathe while keeping the stripped-back writing and plainspoken delivery at the centre. The EP marks a quiet turning point for the project as Blood Wizard continues to evolve as a band.
